Starr Hill is a traditional neighborhood located in the center of Charlottesville, Virginia. It is uniquely positioned between two of the city’s largest economic engines: the thriving downtown Charlottesville and the renowned University of Virginia. Currently, Starr Hill is rather derelict, run down and is waiting for a major revitalization.
Due to its location, Starr Hill still has high volumes of daily vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Starr Hill has witnessed recurring housing and business turnover since the 1960s.
The local city government has talked for over thirty years about revitalizing the appearance and function of this corridor.
Starr Hill is full of potential, yet is currently merely travelled through and goes unnoticed by most. Therefore, it is the intention of Grafik Intervention to increase Starr Hill’s visibility and to once again create the attention necessary to jump start a revival.
